Tiffany Hester

Founder/Executive Director

tiffany@one27intitiative.org

When asked the question “what do you want to be when you grow up?” Tiffany’s answer was always the same…a mom. And that’s exactly what she’s doing. Being a mom not only to the girls God gave her but also loving and investing in those who temporarily don’t have one. James 1:27 moved Tiffany to action. Through the One27 Initiative, she hopes to open eyes to the social injustice, broken systems, and broken people…and to encourage people to actually do something about it.

Tiffany and her husband, Brandon, pastor Coastal Virginia Church in Norfolk, Virginia. They have two daughters, Karsyn and Dylan, and can’t wait to add foster babies to the mix!

Chelsea Bayer

Director of Program Support

chelsea@one27initiative.org

Growing up, Chelsea always knew she wanted to be involved in ministry. While listening to a radio broadcast on adoption and foster care, she realized we have a huge mission field in our very own backyard within the foster care system. Jesus said, “Whatever you do for one of the least of these, you do to me” (Matt 25:40). Who are the least of these in our local communities if not those in the foster system? Through this revelation, a passion has grown in Chelsea to answer Jesus’ call to serve the “least of these” in whatever capacity she can.

Chelsea lives in Norfolk with her husband Paul, daughter Adelaida, and is expecting a baby boy in December!

Misty Conkel

Director of Program Communications

misty@one27initiative.org

Misty grew up in a small town in Massachusetts as an only child. Her parents suffered from strong addictions to drugs and alcohol. Misty was lucky to be supported by many families other than her own while growing up and understands the value of foster parents. Misty previously worked for the Florida Department of Children and Families as a child welfare case manager and most recently worked for a non-profit, engaging and equipping local Churches to start foster care ministries. It is her passion to stand in the gap and serve the most vulnerable children in the community, our foster children. It is a dream of hers to see Christians step up around the nation and serve their local children.

Misty lives in Chesapeake, Virginia with her husband, Jason, and their daughter, Kiley.
